Women Beware! Men Step Up!

A man that was about half my age hit on me. Maybe some women would be flattered by the attention. Maybe they would be flattered by the fact that a young man would be attracted to them.

Have you ever really examined that proposition? If you are really young, you probably have not really ever thought about it. It can be somewhat deceptive in nature.

Ladies, men who are after you simply because of how you look are most likely not looking for a wife. Do not confuse catcalls and “I think you’re hot” with “I care about you.” Guard your heart!

If you get a man that only cares about your looks, when your looks fade – and at some point they will – he’ll be gone. Men who cheat to be with you will also more than likely cheat on you. If he has wandering eyes and doesn’t honor his vow to his wife, there’s no reason to feel he’ll honor a vow to you.

When men stare at you because of how you look, it’s not flattering. It’s not love. It’s lust.

Women, Eve was deceived.

And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
Genesis 3:13

Perhaps we, as women, are more easily deceived because of the role God gave us as mothers. We tend to be the nurturers of the family. We love and care for our children and our husbands, and we want to be loved and cared for in return.

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Genesis 3:16

Our husbands are to rule over us. This was a part of the curse. Choose your man well. Pray before you marry. A good man can be a great provider, protector, and spiritual leader of your home.

Men – husbands and fathers – step up. Be the provider, protector, and spiritual leader that God intended you to be. Be there for your wife. Be there for your daughters and your sons. Teach them well.

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
1 Timothy 5:8

Christian brothers, you know what the deal is. Watch over your sisters including your sisters in Christ. Realize that in this day and age that they are not always home until they marry. They may be out on their own, and they may not always realize the intentions of the men they encounter.

LIFE APPLICATION

Key Focal Verse:

I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
Psalms 34:1-3

Today’s challenge is to examine your relationships. Women, look closely at who is trying to get your attention. Do they really care about you? Do they care only about the way you look? Men, care for your families. Take the time to watch out for your daughters, sisters, and Christian women in your life.
