Have You Chosen the Perfect Career?

Are you at peace with your career? Maybe you have not started yet because you are just out of school or soon will be. Maybe you are fixing to enter college, and you have not decided what to pursue.

What would you do if God placed something new in your heart? What would you do if that something were something you had never tried before?

I want to encourage you today that if God leads you to a career, He will provide for you what you need to do it. If you let Him, He will use you to make a difference eternally in this new venture – even if it is something you have not ever done before. It might even be something that you do not feel capable of doing.

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
2 Corinthians 3:5

Of all the things I have done in life, the bulk of the things that have made an eternal difference did not come by way of the things I chose to do, but instead they have come by the things that God chose for me to do. He places me where He can use me. If you let God, He will place you where He can use you too.

Question. Do you need to see results to feel you’ve made a difference? If so, it could be a challenge for you to continue doing what God would have you to do for an extended period of time. Our perception of time is not the same as God’s. He sees and is working across eternity.

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2 Peter 3:8

We do not have the vision to see what God is seeing, but just because we cannot see it, does not mean that God is not working it out. Often in reaching out, we do not get the privilege to see – this side of Heaven – what God does with the seed we sow, but we can have confidence that God will use it.

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Isaiah 55:11

In conclusion, remember that in anything you do for the Lord, it is only by Him that you can accomplish it. Whatever He asks you to do – including a career swap, He will provide for it. Also remember, that just because you don’t see results you can measure, does not mean there weren’t any.

LIFE APPLICATION

Key Focal Verse:

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Revelation 1:8

Today’s challenge is to pray about your career. If you are where God wants you to be, then pray for God to show you more ways He can use you where you are. If, on the other hand, you feel you need to be doing something else, then pray about what that something else would be. Ask God to clearly show you His will for your life and give you the courage to step out in faith.

(for we walk by faith, not by sight),
2 Corinthians 5:7
