Feeling All Alone

Have you ever felt like you were going through something that no one else was able to understand? Maybe you did not have anyone else you could talk to about it. Maybe you felt that to some degree you were all alone in your struggle.

We have all had those times.

When we are going through a difficult time, the number of folks around us may not change how alone we feel. Many battles are very personal. We may not be able to share them, or they may be something we must deal with and work through on our own. Support from family and friends may be helpful, but even that may not comfort us.

Let’s take it to scripture.

In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me. But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled. And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest’s palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.
Matthew 26:55-58

When Jesus was betrayed and carried away, He was carried away alone. Peter followed, but Peter could not really do anything. This was a fulfilling of scripture, and Jesus had to do it alone.

Pilate wanted to release Him, but the crowd yelled, “Crucify Him.”

Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
Matthew 27:27-31

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5

Sinless Jesus did not deserve this treatment, but He did this for us that we could have spiritual healing and forgiveness. He endured a lot emotionally and physically.

LIFE APPLICATION

Key Focal Verse:

And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
Luke 23:46

And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
Mark 15:39

Today’s challenge is to remember that Jesus is the Son of God. He endured much more than you have had to endure, and He will not ever leave you. Jesus arose, and when you accept Him as Savior your sins will be forgiven and you will have eternal life.
