Fearful? God Is Still Protecting You When You Are Not Looking

I doubt you realize how many times God has watched over you. He watches over you so well that you may miss it entirely. You simply may overlook what God has done.

“I protected you,” was the message that God gave me to take to the streets in 2007.

As I was preparing to give my testimony in the street in Burlington, God healed me from the pain in my past and told me that He had protected me over the years. He had protected me from other people, and He had protected me from things I had encountered.

We see many such times. What we don’t see are the many times that God protects, but we never have to deal with the circumstances.

Today could have been such a day. Robbie had been carrying stuff to the road. I asked him to take the trash as a last trip. Away he went. About a minute later, my cell phone rang. Robbie had encountered a copperhead on his way back. It was almost in the middle of the driveway. On his way out, he could have easily stepped on it or rolled the trashcan across it.

Think about this. If he had come through the yard on his way back, he would have missed seeing God’s hand of protection.

I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Psalms 18:1-2

God is there for you in every situation. You may not always see Him, but He is there meeting your needs. He never leaves you.

Remember when King Nebuchadnezzar wanted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to worship an idol? Here is the answer they gave him.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
Daniel 3:16-18

We know that God kept them safe in the fiery furnace. Even if God had chosen not to keep them safe from the fire, they were confident they would see God on the other side. We can have this confidence too.

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:8

Many times you’ve seen God’s hand of protection as plainly as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego saw it. Do you ever wonder how many times you’ve missed it like Robbie almost did?

LIFE APPLICATION

Today’s challenge is to praise God for all the times He has protected you. Praise Him for the times that you were aware, but also for the times you were not aware. Remember that God is always in control. Trust Him with your needs, your fears, and your future today.
