Business Courage: Do You Have What it Takes? (Part 3)

Courage to Fully Become –

At some point in your business, you may realize that you’ve gone as far as you can without jumping in with all your heart. You’ve done all you can do without getting out of your comfort zone.

During the first stages of your business, you were brave. You developed the vision. You made it work. You made it through some hard times. You’ve learned to budget. You’ve learned to save. You’ve mastered basic business skills.

At this point, you may face the questions, “Now what?”

You may realize that it’s simply time to get out of your comfort zone and take your business to the next level. You’ll need courage as you consider your next step. Will you broaden your base of products and services? Will you expand in new directions all together? Will you advertise more? Hire new folks? Participate in networking?

Of course what I am talking about could be the difference between offering your products and services locally or globally. It could be that first major contract. It could be any level above where you currently are. It’s like making the leap between being a local doughnut shop and a major chain. However, the difference really doesn’t need to be that dramatic. It could just be a change of mind. Maybe you just fall in love with what you are doing and see ways to become even better!

The truth is that you will probably face many such moments as you follow what God has for you to do. Remember, God has a plan and a purpose for your life. You are the only one who can fill it. If it includes a business, don’t put it before God and family, but fall in love with it! Make it into that dream God has placed on your heart!

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
Colossians 3:23-24

Remember, whatever you are doing, God intends to use you to reach others. Carry the gospel with you. Share it with those you meet. Be a blessing.

LIFE APPLICATION

The challenge is to get out of your comfort zone and make your business into what you want it to be. As you are chasing that dream, you’ll need courage. Realize that God wants to use you – even in your business to reach others. The bigger your circle of influence, the more opportunities you’ll have to be a witness. Let that motivate you to do all things as unto the Lord. Remember to give Him all praise, honor, glory, and thanksgiving for providing that courage as you go.

Your Big Challenge

Realize that you will always need courage in your business. It takes courage to create the vision. It takes courage to make it work. It takes courage to grow it to its fullest potential. Starting a business is not for the faint at heart. You’ll have challenges and struggles as you go. You’ll see the best in folks and the worst. For that matter, you’ll see the best in yourself, but hopefully not the worst. You’ll make good decisions, but you’ll also make some mistakes. It takes a lot of courage every step of the way.
