Battling the Enemy in the USA

Think for a minute about how many of our battles as Christians come from folks who are not Christian. Sometimes we cause ourselves issues, but I am talking about our big legal battles over our rights. It is not Christians who are causing us problems for the most part.

Our national battle looks like a legal battle. To some degree it is, but the root is in the spiritual.

Christians are not the ones who are pushing to take God out of our schools. It is not Christians who want to take crosses down. It is not Christians who want to take Christian displays out of public places.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6:12

What can be done about the attacks of the enemy? First we must realize where they originate – with Satan. The enemy holds nonbelievers captive and uses them to wreak havoc in the lives of Christians. Most nonbelievers do not even realize they are prisoners.

We must battle the spiritual with the spiritual.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
2 Corinthians 10:3-4

The way to secure liberty and peace is to boldly make known the Gospel.

Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
2 Corinthians 3:17

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Ephesians 6:18-20

When a door opens in a foreign nation to take them the Gospel, we are there. Sometimes it spreads rapidly. They are hungry for God’s Word. While the door is open here in the United States, we must seek to spread the Gospel into areas that do not know our Savior.

We must be the hands and feet of Jesus and carry them the Gospel. Where we cannot go, we must send.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Romans 10:14-15

LIFE APPLICATION

Key Focal Verse:

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
1 Peter 2:9-10

Today’s challenge is to keep our nation free by speaking boldly the Gospel, and by supporting others who can carry it into areas we cannot go. Remember to continue to pray for revival.
