What is the influence of your company or the company that employs you? What impression does it make on the public? If you could start over or impact that influence for the better, how would you change it?
Influence and impression are challenges that businesses need to stay on top of consistently.
Culture is a big buzzword today. Companies are trying to create a company culture. I am not sure I completely understand all that goes into that, but it encompasses attitudes, beliefs, and values among other things. The impression the company makes on others and the influence the company has are affected by the culture.
What goes on inside of a company reaches beyond the walls of that company. It touches lives in ways that are hard to comprehend. Whether you are a business owner, manager, or employee, you are a part of the culture or climate of your company. What you do, and what you expect from others makes a difference.
What difference does this make? Think of athletes. It’s easy to see how they impact others all the time. What about musicians? People are watching. Whether you realize it or not, people are watching you and your company too!
And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
Matthew 18:3-7
Do you realize that passage is not about children? It’s about Christians. Albert Barnes’ Notes on the Bible says, “Whoso shall offend” means, “That is, cause to fall, or to sin; or who should place anything in their way to hinder their piety or happiness.”
The impression and influence a company makes extends to every life it touches. It touches the lives of the members of the families that draw income. It touches the people that hear about the company. It touches their parents and their friends and associates. It touches the folks that buy the product or service. It touches the lives of the vendors, and suppliers. It is hard to comprehend all the folks that are impacted by a company.
Again, I challenge you. What impression and influence does your company have?

Today’s challenge is to ask God to show you ways that you can impact your community for Christ. Pray that your company or the company that employs you will make a positive difference. Pray that America’s businesses and leaders will take the opportunity to give God credit for their successes.
