You Don’t Have to See God to Know He’s There

As I was enjoying watching the birds on the branches outside of my window, one jumped up to a twig a little higher. Although the bird was almost completely out of sight, I could still see a shadow bouncing around on the twigs below. I could have told by that alone that the bird was still there.

That almost out of sight bird reminded me of how God is almost out of sight for us at times.

Even when you feel alone, if you look you can still see evidence of God. God’s fingerprints are all over this world. We don’t have to see him to know that He is there. At times we do have to look, but we never have to look far.

Go outside and look up. In the morning, you will see the sun and the clouds. In the evening, you will see the moon and the stars. Then, notice that all of nature surrounds you. As we look at God’s creation, we must recognize the creator.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Romans 1:18-21

Ever tried to imagine nothingness? Ever tried to imagine something coming from nothingness? I can’t quite wrap my mind around that. Nature – the creation – testifies of the creator. God’s Word tells us that there is no getting around it. In Romans we read, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.”

If that is not enough, we know that God is there by His Word.

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Hebrews 13:5

You don’t have to see Him to know that God is there. Even when you do not feel He is close, He is still there. And what’s more than that is that nothing goes unnoticed. God is more observant and intentional than we’d care to admit at times.

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Matthew 10:30

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Jeremiah 1:5

God knows every detail of everything that is going on, and His actions are intentional.

LIFE APPLICATION

Today’s challenge is to remember that God is not unaware. He did not wander off. He is right here. Just because you cannot hear Him or see Him doesn’t meant that He is sleeping on the job. In fact, He’s doing quite the opposite. Look around today for God’s fingerprints. I know you won’t have to look far.
