If It is Thriving In America, We Supported It

Everyday my email is full of spam. I’m not sure what one product is being pushed the most, but I am sure of what the overall message is behind what they are selling. It’s the same message that is pushed when scantily clad females are laying on the hood of an automobile in advertisements.

We have spoiled the innocence of many a mind. We have set the wrong standard. Many of our youth grow up to believe that standard. Sometimes the message is fueled by the relationship between the parents.

When dad does not treat mom right, boys may grow up with a lack of respect for women, and girls may grow up with a lack of respect for themselves. Society sends young women the wrong message about what is important, and sends young men the wrong message about how to treat young women.

Across the board, what succeeds in America, is obviously succeeding because we have chosen to spend our money on it. If America stopped spending money on R-rated movies, they’d stop making them. The same goes for all else that is sold in the free market that we wish wasn’t. If America wants more wholesome movies, America needs to start going to those instead of the others. If we want more kid friendly athletes, then we need to stop supporting those that aren’t. If we want less illegal drugs sold in America, then we need to stop buying them.

We can legislate any issue to death. We can pass law after law about what can be done and what cannot, but the in the end it is all a spiritual matter. Christians can make a bigger impact simply by sticking closer to what they know is right.

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Matthew 5:13

As Christians, we are called to be different. If we ourselves live up to what Jesus expects from us, so much of what we battle would not exist. We can make a difference in everything from the types of movies that are produced to the way marriage is viewed across America.

We must hold each other accountable. We must be the role models for America. Our children and grandchildren’s future depends on our faithfulness.

Keep praying for revival in America.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14

LIFE APPLICATION

Key Focal Verse:

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
James 3:17-18

Today’s challenge is to ask God to show you where you can make positive changes in your life. Small changes do make a difference. Look closely at your buying habits. Is there anything that perhaps you need to reconsider? What about your lifestyle? What are you modeling for the youth in your life?
