Ultimately God Picks Our Leaders

Have you ever considered why we get the local, state, and national leaders that we have?

I am not asking if you like them or not, but I am asking have you ever considered how we got the ones we got?

Do you do the research and pray before you vote, or do you just guess?

We have just begun our country’s primaries. Emotions are flying high. Hopes and dreams will be gained and lost, as there will ultimately be winners and losers. Our country stands at a critical point. Will we move further toward socialism? Will we pull back toward our Constitutional roots?

The campaigning begins. We donate money. We make phone calls for our candidates. We create advertising. We put posters in our yards. We do polling to predict the winner. We hold the election. We vote. Hopefully, we research, and prayerfully place an informed vote.

When the results come in, we must realize that ultimately God determined the outcome. We just thought we did because He let us be a part of it.

For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
Psalms 75:6-7

Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
Daniel 2:20-22

Why do we get the leaders we get? God picked them, and God has a reason for the leaders He has placed in office. God is in control.

Now for a pop quiz.

Question #1. If we were a nation of godly people, and our leaders were to come from among our godly people, what kind of leaders would we have?

Question #2. If we have been electing people that we think are like us, what does that say about us as a nation? Are we close to God? Do we need to move closer?

If you did not like the answer to the second question, you can be a part of the solution. You can change how close our nation is to God one person at a time by sharing the Gospel and encouraging others to grow their relationship to Christ.

Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
2 Thessalonians 3:1

Please keep praying for revival. Remember revival begins with you!

LIFE APPLICATION

Key Focal Verse:

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
Psalms 37:23

Today’s challenge is to pray for our leaders and for our nation. Ask God how he would have you become informed and involved in this election cycle. Pray that the Gospel will have free course and run across America! Pray to find hearts open to God’s Word. Pray for boldness to speak about Jesus.
