The World is Going to End On . . .

Did you hear? The world is going to end! How many times over the years have you heard that? A man recently spent his entire savings – or so they say – getting the word out about just that. He even picked a date.

What do you think? Can anyone be right?

Do you really have to think about that?

Maybe you are thinking, “Jean, don’t you agree we are in the last days?”

Of course we are, but we’ve been in the end times for about 2000 years – ever since Jesus left. Nevertheless, scripture is our guide.

And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.
Matthew 24:6-8

We are certainly seeing the potential for a famine right before our eyes. There is a major food shortage in North Korea. Franklin Graham spoke recently about the help Samaritan’s Purse is providing. They are trying to help save the future crops, but the need is more immediate than the harvest.

Small earthquakes happen daily, but I think we’ve probably seen much larger and more frequent earthquakes of consequence in the past year along with Tsunamis.

In these end times, we need to remember that there will be folks calling us to come see or to prepare. Scripture is clear on that too.

But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Matthew 24:36

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Matthew 24:4-5

Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Matthew 24:23-27

In Matthew 24:29-31, we are told what will happen immediately after the tribulation of those days. The Son of man comes in the clouds of heaven with power and glory. Although this is the second coming, we know there will be 1000 years of peace after that.

LIFE APPLICATION

Today’s challenge is to understand that no one knows when Jesus is coming back, and He won’t be off somewhere for you to go looking for Him. Your decision for Christ needs to be made right now. We need to concentrate on the fact that we are not guaranteed tomorrow. If you are holding off to make that decision for as long as you think possible, don’t wait. God can remove you in an instant.
