Should Christian Churches Lend or Rent Space to Muslim Groups for Worship?

I could not believe my ears this week. I turned on the television to hear that Christian Churches were lending or renting space in their buildings for Muslims to worship while their Mosques were being built.
Either they are not spending enough time in their Bibles, or they are ignoring what they are reading. Scripture is very clear.

More and more I look around and marvel at the ways people have misapplied God’s Word. I am sure those church folks felt they were doing the Christian thing. I will give them the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps they are focused on loving their neighbor. Perhaps they think they can win a few of them in the process. They are misguided.

They’ve somehow overlooked the following passage. It holds the key to the proper response to the situation.

I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father. And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another. And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
2 John 1:4-11

Deceivers are antichrists. I don’t mean the antichrist of Revelations, but nevertheless they are antichrists. Scripture says, “If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.”

These churches that are renting or loaning space to non-Christians for worship are partakers of their evil deeds. Although we are to love our neighbors and our enemies, this is different. This is furthering a false doctrine. This is in effect helping Satan spread his lies. We are not to be a part of that.

I do not want to beat on my Christian brothers and sisters. I do believe they think they are doing the right thing. I also believe they need to spend more time in the Word and in prayer.

LIFE APPLICATION

Today’s challenge is to speak up if your church starts to entertain such ideas. Share
2 John 1:4-11 with them. Understand that they mean well, and they are really trying to love their neighbor. Perhaps they have just forgotten that passage.

When you speak up, approach your brothers and sisters in Christ from the position of love, and remember:

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
