How To Leave A Legacy of Faith (Part 2)

How A Legacy of Faith is Handed Down –

Jesus lived about 2000 years ago. His ministry only lasted about 3 years, but we are still talking about Him today. No one else mentioned in history has ever made the difference that He made in the short time that He was here on earth. No one else has ever made or ever will make the eternal difference.

How is it that we have this knowledge of Jesus, our Lord and Savior? Why didn’t it get lost over time?

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2:1-4

The Holy Ghost came and filled the Christians. Under His power and leadership, the gospel spread. If we skip down and read a little more, we’ll see just how fast.

Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
Acts 2:37-41

And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
Acts 2:46-47

Many folks today seek their 15 minutes of fame. That could have been the story of the Christians, but not so. Also note, they were not bringing attention to themselves, but to God as they spread the gospel message.

Over the years, missionaries have gone out to reach people, and Bibles have been distributed.

LIFE APPLICATION

It’s our challenge to realize how important the actions of the apostles and our missionaries through the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit have been throughout the years. We need to remember to support them and pray for them. We also need to consider how much we can be like them day to day. They have left a legacy of faith, and we can too if we are willing to go the extra mile. It won’t happen by itself.
