Believers, Did You Know That Jesus Prayed For You?

If you’ve ever thrown yourself a pity-party, you were most likely feeling at that time like no one cared. Perhaps you found yourself feeling that way because you were not able to find anyone to listen to you!

On the other side of the spectrum are all those times you knew folks were praying for you, and you may even have requested it yourself. Knowing that others are praying for you is very comforting.

One thing that has become extremely obvious to me over the years by watching others is the number of times a person has been there for another, yet that was not always reciprocated when the roles were reversed.

Maybe you’ve had that happen to you?

When I was younger, I would internalize that as no one cared. Now that I’m older, I see it a little differently. I don’t think “no one cares” is the issue. I think more and more people want to be heard. More and more people have financial burdens – particularly in this economy. More and more people have become self focused for whatever reason.

People in need don’t always make good listeners. They are distracted by their own challenges. Again, I don’t think it’s that they don’t care. I just think that they are overwhelmed.

You can always take your burden to the first one to pray for you. Jesus was the first. Jesus prayed for all believers. He prayed that we would be one.

Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
John 17:20-26

Here is something to keep in mind. Jesus, fully man and fully God, who died for you also prayed for you! What more could you need? You are truly special!

LIFE APPLICATION

Today’s challenge is to remember that Jesus prayed for you. Our Lord took the time to pray for all believers. When your family and friends are too busy or too distracted by things going on in their lives to be an ear for you, take it to God. Jesus prayed for you before anyone else prayed for you. He prayed that we’d all be one with Him and the Father.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Philippians 4:6
