A Surprise Blessing From God

WOW! God rained a blessing on me over the last few weeks. In one case He laid it on my heart to seek out an opportunity. Within 2 weeks – without my doing anything – He brought the door of opportunity to me. Within 2 hours of inquiring about it, He gave me that opportunity.

Have you ever had that happen?

This is not the first time God has blessed me with a surprise like that. I like the surprise blessings he gives me. They are always things that affect my life in a positive way. Of course those blessings also serve to move me in the direction God has for my life. They are often confirmations of the general direction He has already shown me.

The scenario often starts with God impressing upon me the direction I need to go by calling my attention to it with a question. I always know what I need to do next. Sometimes, before I have the opportunity to take that next step, God will surprise me. A phone call or an email will come in with just what I needed.

Isn’t that how we surprise our children? We find out what they are interested in, and if it is inline with what we want for them we often go ahead and give it to them? As much as we love our children, our Father in heaven loves us even more.

God has a plan and a direction for our lives. Sometimes He reaches down and intervenes to help us take those next steps.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Matthew 6:7-8

Remember, even if you have a mountain in front of you, and God asks you to do something, He has already made a way. Your job is not to wrestle with figuring it out, your job is simply to know what God wants you to do and be willing to do it. Sometimes the biggest battle we have is being willing.

When God leads, follow.

You might be thinking that your journey is not easy. Honestly, the journey will not always be easy, but the result has already been determined, and His grace is always sufficient.

For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
2 Corinthians 12:8-10

LIFE APPLICATION

Key Focal Verse:

Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
2 John 1:3

Today’s challenge is to walk in the works God has prepared for you. Know that sometimes he will surprise you along the way. He will make a way for you when you cannot see it. He will never leave you even when the going is tough. His grace is always sufficient.
